Things to Make with Butterfly Outlines
Printable butterfly outlines are not only great decorations, but they’re also great additions to a variety of crafts you and your children can make together. Just think about putting together a butterfly crown for your daughter to wear to a birthday party. Cool yourself with a butterfly fan. Hang a butterfly mobile above a baby’s crib or make a garland of butterflies for spring.
And be sure to make a customized coloring book for your kids by mixing printable butterfly outlines with spring coloring pages.
Make a simple butterfly crown for your children by cutting a strip of paper to fit around your child’s head and printing a butterfly for your kids to color. Once it’s colored, glue the butterfly silhouette to the front of the headband.
Print out two copies of a black line butterfly onto white cardstock for your kids to color. Once they are both colored, carefully cut out both butterflies. Glue the two butterflies together with the top of a popsicle stick between them. Your children will end up with a beautiful butterfly fan to keep you cool this summer.
Start by printing a large butterfly shape on a piece of white construction paper or cardstock. Have your child color the butterfly before cutting it out. Make a simple paper headband for your child using a long strip of paper formed into a circle. Attach the butterfly to the center of the headband. Now you have a butterfly headband for your child to wear!
Pick out four or more butterfly templates to print off for your children to color on both sides and cut out. Hole punch the butterflies at the top and tie a piece of string, yarn, or fishing line to the butterflies. Tie the strings to an embroidery hoop to hang from the ceiling. You may need to arrange the butterflies so the hoop is balanced.
You might want to consider adding a few printable hearts templates to your project. Hearts and butterflies make a beautiful craft to hang above a crib.
On a large sheet of construction paper or cardstock, trace a simple butterfly outline. Color and cut out the butterfly. Attach a large piece of elastic to each side of the butterfly, making sure that it’s tight enough to hold the butterfly on your child’s head but loose enough to take on and off easily. Then put the mask on your child to determine the best placement for the eyeholes. Make sure you remove the mask before cutting out the eyeholes.
Choose and print a small butterfly outline drawing onto a sheet of paper. Color the butterfly and cut it out. Take a sheet of cardstock and fold it in half, and then fold it in half a second time. The folded side of the paper is the top of the card. Now, glue the butterfly outline drawing onto the front of your folded cardstock. You have a greeting card to give to family and friends.
Memory Matching Game
To make a memory-matching game, make a grid that’s four columns wide and five rows long. Make sure the grid is lined. Choose ten different butterfly templates to insert within the grid. Print the grid on a piece of card stock or regular white paper so that the butterflies have a white background. Then cut out each butterfly along the grid lines to give yourself ten cards for a memory-matching game.
You will need to print a large selection of butterflies onto either colored or white paper to create a garland. They can be the same butterfly template or different types of butterflies. If you’d like, color the butterflies. Then attach the butterflies at the tip of the wings to a long string.
Consider alternating your butterfly templates with leaf templates to create a gorgeous garland to celebrate spring.
Toilet Paper Roll Butterfly
Print a beautiful butterfly stencil onto a piece of paper. Color the butterfly and cut it out. Then paint a toilet paper roll your favorite color. Once the roll is dried, glue the butterfly to the toilet paper roll along the body of the butterfly so that the wings stick out from the toilet roll.
