Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Zoology 2 is a favorite science choice for children that love marine animals and learning about ocean life. We live in Florida, so we have some wonderful opportunities to use Apologia Swimming Creatures Zoology 2 for elementary students with a full-on immersion approach. If you are studying swimming creatures or ocean life, these worksheets are broken down by lesson for you.

The Apologia Young Explorers Series

This science course is for elementary grades K-6 with a strong creationist viewpoint. Each book in the series focuses on a specific science theme to create an immersive curriculum with individual topics in each lesson.

The entire series is written directly to the student in a conversational style. This makes it a favorite choice for Charlotte Mason style homeschooling families.

You can complete the suggested activities and experiments using mostly household items. Choose to use the junior notebooks or regular notebooks, or you can use free printables.

Whatever you choose, you will see that a 13 unit textbook can become an extensive science curriculum, which you can use for an entire school year.

Apologia Exploring Creation with Zoology 2 (Swimming Creatures)

Exploring Creation with Zoology 2: Swimming Creatures is the second book in the zoology series that covers marine biology. It will take elementary ages on an adventure to explore the swimming creatures of the fifth day.

They will learn about enormous whales, delightful dolphins, seals, manatees, sea turtles, sea snakes and salamanders. They will even get to read about the primeval plesiosaurus. This entire book also covers fish and sharks, crustaceans, sea snails, clams, octopus, squid, corals, sea stars, sponges and more.

What are the Apologia Notebooking Journals?

A great addition to the Apologia Young Explorer Series is that you are able to purchase separate notebooking journals for your students. These are great for a busy mom as they have a suggested schedule of work for each unit broken down over two weeks. There is a junior journal and regular journal that you can choose from.

Each book has vocabulary crossword puzzles along with notebooking pages to keep track of fascinating facts, and scripture copywork pages.

There are many different types of notebook activities to complete such as:

  • miniature books to fill out
  • cut and paste pages
  • coloring pages
  • and more

The junior notebooking journal is for K-2nd grade and typically used for younger students. You can use it with older children who struggle with writing or really enjoy more coloring pages.

The regular notebooking journal is for the upper elementary grades. There are more writing spaces and room for kids who like to do extra research.
