Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Zoology 2 is a favorite science choice for children that love marine animals and learning about ocean life.
The Apologia Young Explorers series is an elementary science curriculum for grades K-6. Each book in the series focuses on a specific science theme to create an immersive curriculum with individual topics in each lesson. The entire series is written directly to the student in a conversational style; this makes it a favorite choice for Charlotte Mason style homeschooling families. When you complete the suggested activities and experiments, as well as use the free printables for Swimming Creatures, you will see that a 13 unit textbook can become an extensive science curriculum that you can use for an entire school year.
My children love animals and learning about them in any way they can. We live in Florida, so we have some wonderful opportunities to learn about swimming creatures first hand. My girls enjoyed this book so much, that we decided to hunt for even more printables that they could create their own personal notebooks with. I have compiled them below in case you would like to have some extras too.
Exploring Creation with Zoology 2: Swimming Creatures is the second book in the zoology series will take your children on an adventure to explore the swimming creatures that God created on the fifth day. They will learn about whales, dolphins, seals, manatees, sea turtles, snakes and salamanders. They will even get to read about the primeval plesiosaurus! This book covers fish and sharks, crustaceans, sea snails, clams, octopus, squid, corals, sea stars, sponges and so much more. This book is an absolute delight to those that love water.
