I have known quite a few perfectionists in my day. In fact, one of my friends is an artist and has been known to go over his paintings a few zillion times before he perfects it. I admire a brain like that but I do not envy it at all. If you have a child like this, learn how to score creative wins for your perfectionist kid in your homeschool.
Being a perfectionist isn’t the easiest thing. Think about going through life thinking things had to be perfect or wanting everything to live up to every standard possible That is giving me anxiety just thinking about it.
Now try explaining this concept to a child who has perfectionist tendencies. It is just difficult to manage. Yet, these 3 easy ways to move your kiddo (or you) beyond perfectionism and make making art fun again will be just what you need to help your child.
Art is actually perfect for perfectionist kids in your homeschool in that they have no choice but to only compare their artwork to themselves and no one else. Art appreciation is subjective and not objective. This leaves room for kids to break away from their perfectionist ideals to reach a point where they can be proud of their work regardless of how anyone else thins of it.
