With the intense training it takes to become a doctor/physician, you would think they were appreciated more. I remember times on end that doctors have made a difference in my life.

Doctors in Hong Kong saved my father-in-law’s life after a myocardial infarction (heart attack). It was a physician who found issues with my stomach, prompting me to need emergency surgery where again, doctors saved my life.

It was a doctor who discovered my friend’s daughter had a tumor, and now she is living as healthy as ever.

Many of us have doctor stories that can wow our socks off. I even went to a doctor one time and as we talked and talked, he actually witnessed to me. He risked his career just to tell one little patient about Jesus. I didn’t tell him I was a Christian at first. I just let him speak, as I was in awe.

Once he found out I was a Christian, he began to tell me that he knew one day it may be his last time to tell his patients about Jesus. Until then, he would pray for the Lord to guide him on who to witness to and give him the words.

In America there are caring doctors and not so caring doctors. Overseas it is the same, but in some areas doctors do not get paid what they do in first world countries.

For instance, when I lived in Spain I came to learn that the medical system was a universal healthcare system where coverage and access was the same for all Spanish nationals, regardless of their economic situation or participation in the social security network.

Where I live now, doctors don’t earn much more than other careers for the amount of work they do, so people tend to take the doctors food and make feasts for them to show appreciation.

No matter what country you find yourself in, a doctor is a community servant that may not always get the thanks they deserve.

Remember to thank your doctors for all they do. They take your situation and investigate a treatment or determine what the root cause is.
