Bible Charades Is a Fun Learning Activity
Bible Charades is a fun game to review the stories of the bible, cover Biblical concepts, and learn Bible phrases. It’s also perfect for spreading the Good News.
Acting out Bible stories and then reading the corresponding verses is a great way to interact with the story as a family and grow together in your walk with God.
The best part is that it doesn’t require a board game and can be easily played at home or at Sunday School. You can invite another family over for dinner and games, or introduce Bible Charades to your homeschool co-op.
How to Play Bible Story Charades
The first step to playing the game of charades is to divide your group into two teams. You’ll want to make certain the two groups are approximately equal in skill especially if you’re playing with younger children.
Decide which team will go first. If needed, you can toss a coin to decide which team will start.
The first team will send someone to pick a card from the Bible Story Charade deck. That person will read the card without showing any of their teammates. A buzzer will be set, usually for 3 minutes.
Then the person who drew the card will have to act out the word or phrase on the topic card without speaking while their team members guess what the phrase or word on the card was. If the first team succeeds in guessing the correct answer, they get a point. You can use plastic chips to keep track of how many points each team has.
Now it’s the other team’s turn. Continue alternating turns until everyone has had a turn picking a charades card or the cards run out. The team with the most points wins the Bible Charades Game.
Supplies Need to Play Bible Charades
You will need a timer so you can set how long each team has to solve their charades clue. Many smartphones have a timer, so set your device volume to its loudest chime so everyone can hear it.
A charades deck will also be needed for players to draw a card from. These topic cards are the most important part of this great game.
