I have heard that as Christians, we should reflect in the month of March the mission we have in sharing Christ with others, just as St. Patrick did. I had no idea, for such a long time, who St. Patrick really was or why we even celebrate St. Patrick’s Day–aside from leprechauns and rainbows of course. Now that we know, we have been taking steps to teach our children about it. We are using this simple and easy St. Patrick’s Day craft that the whole family can participate in making; it will help teach our kids about storing up treasures in heaven.
This craft is all about storing our treasures in heaven and not here on Earth. Rainbows are everywhere this month, but the myth that there is a pot of gold on the other side is not what we should tell our kids about. We should talk to our kids about where our real treasure lies. March is a great time to talk about these important things with our kids.
Jesus told us to “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:20). This command was connected to the condition of our hearts: “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21; see also verses 10–20). We can serve the Lord wholeheartedly, knowing that He is the One keeping score, and His reward will be abundantly more than what we deserve. I am completely speaking to myself as well in this. Even these adorable crafts can do so much as we speak to our children about God’s Truth.
Try out this adorable Treasures in Heaven St. Patrick’s Day craft for you and your kids from The Fervent Mama.
