If you have a gluten allergy in your home like we do, then you probably stay away from regular play dough. My 8 year old still loves to play with it though, and we have made our own before with much success.
We have also purchased an amazing “marshmallow” gluten-free play dough before that we absolutely LOVE! It feels like marshmallows and is completely non-toxic AND gluten-free! It actually lasts for a long time too, as long as your kiddos keep a tight seal on the lids.
When you want to be frugal (or you are just craftsy) and want to make your own – here is a great recipe!
You likely already have everything to make this if you are a gluten-free home. I love the natural coloring suggestions as well as essential oils for making it scented.

Here is the marshmallow play doung I mentioned above. The same company also makes an amazing “sand.” Wonderful gifts for kids who are gluten-free!
