Easy Science Experiments for Learning About Chemistry

Science does not have to be boring and dry with big words read from a textbook. The beauty of homeschooling is that we can make learning come alive. The best way I have found to do this is through hands-on activities and experiments.

So much learning can be done when your children can actually “see” what they are learning. If you are studying chemistry in your homeschool this year you will love these easy science experiments for learning about chemistry.

What is Chemistry?

Chemistry is the identification of substances of which matter is made from. It is the investigation and study of matter and how atoms and molecules combine, react and change to form new substances. Chemistry is also a physical science. There are many things to study and learn about with chemistry. Atoms, molecules, solids, liquids, gases, mixtures, compounds, chemical reactions, and so much more.

This subject can be a lot of fun with children when you get to experiment and watch the chemical reactions happen right before your eyes.

Easy Science Experiments for Learning Chemistry:

There are lots of chemistry experiments that can be pretty complicated with an extensive ingredient list. These can be costly, and can be a little dangerous. They are usually done with older kids at the high school level. This doesn’t mean that younger kids still can’t have a blast with experiments!

Many chemistry experiments can be done with just some simple, everyday house hold items. Since I like to lean on the easy route of doing science experiments we will go with those you can find in your own home. They are inexpensive and easy to grab last minute. 

Being a busy homeschool mom of many, I rarely have time to go on the hunt for obscure ingredients. So, I have gathered up some super simple experiments that go perfect with a chemistry study. They can also be done right out of your house, with no extra ingredients needed. 

We have done a lot of these experiments in our science co-op. They are easy, and a big hit with the kids. They enjoy watching the chemical reactions and playing with them.
