Do you know that there is a difference between Animal Science and Zoology? These resources and unit studies for Animal Science can help you understand more about the two – or not.

Unit Studies for Animal Science

While researching, I learned that the differences between zoology and animal science had more to do with college majors than it had to do with anything else.

In its simplest form, animal science had to do with the study of domesticated animals and zoology had to do with the study of non-domestic animals.

Other than that, most of it is pretty similar. Even some sites stated that when studying about animals, the terms were interchangeable in many cases.

Therefore, I figure that when we are teaching our kids, it is safe to merge the two and other sciences like veterinary sciences and biology. Animal science is an umbrella term that includes a bit of them all.

Whatever topic under animal science you are studying, it is safe to know that the study involves understanding the animals that are in our stead. It is said that animals rely on humans for food, labor, and friendship.

Animal science lends itself well to unit studies in your homeschool.

With an animal science unit, you can teach kids about nutrition, biology, physiology, and of course — what it says about animals from God’s Word.

From the Garden of Eden to the representations in Revelation, animals are a significant part of God’s kingdom.

We can teach our kids all about it right alongside our Animal Science Unit. Here are some Bible verses to use with your Animal Science Unit Studies.

Psalm 104:24 (ESV) – O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

Psalm 145:15-16 (ESV) – The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. 16 You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Psalm 8:6-8 (ESV) – You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

Proverbs 12:10 (ESV) – Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.

Proverbs 27:23 (ESV) – Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.
