My children love animals and love learning about animals in our homeschool studies. We find ourselves constantly reading books and stories about animals and learning about them in science. We also like to do lots of animal themed nature studies and incorporate literature books that are about animals.
When you are teaching your children about animals, they will not only learn about the type and kind of animal, they will learn about where they live. An animal’s home is called their habitat. Learning about animal homes is so much fun! This is something that you can do with all ages.
If you have small children, you can read books about animal homes. You can use free worksheets and printables to reinforce the concepts of where an animal lives. Take a field trip to nature centers, parks, and zoos to see examples of different animal habitats. This can expand into more detailed unit studies or animal habitat research and report projects for your older children.
