Moving out of the United States was eye-opening for me. My kids made a huge change in many habits when moving here as well. One thing they had to do was learn to use their imagination when playing. Sometimes that is hard to do with so many gadgets all around, thinking for them. If you want to build on that imagination in your own child, then use this insight on creative play and tips for helping your child use their imagination.

Tips for Helping Your Child Use Their Imagination

I am really grateful that I was able to move my children away from the mainstream world a bit as they grow up. It is so easy for us as parents to put your children in front of a screen to keep them occupied. Don’t get me wrong, we have a couple of gadgets now and are able to give them screen time even in another country. For our sanity at times or for their education, which works really well.

What this time in another country has allowed me to do is control the screen time and to allow my children the opportunity to play outside, to actually use their imaginations. You don’t need to move to a third world country to do that.

We can take steps to help our kids in using their imagination from anywhere — really. The problem is that in a world full of visual stimuli, many of us parents don’t even know how to begin encouraging our kids to use their imagination.

Getting kids to use their imagination is worth every effort to try; this is how critical thinking begins.
