I remember when I first heard about Purim; I was rather new in my faith, even though I had been a Christian for a few years. I guess you could say that I was on milk for quite a while because of my laziness in reading the Word. I was, however familiar with the story of Esther.

It was fascinating to me that other Christians knew what Purim was and some of them even celebrated it. How had I never heard of it? Well, that’s easy to answer since I didn’t make a habit out of reading my Bible.

Our family found a new church about five years ago that taught the Bible like I had never heard it taught before. Our Pastor is very passionate about Jewish traditions and super knowledgeable about all the biblical feasts celebrated by the Jewish people. Each year when one of the biblical feasts came along, he would talk about it and encourage us to read Scripture and learn more.

For the past five years we have sat under his teaching and heard about the feasts in the Bible, but I will admit – it can be confusing. Each biblical feast has more than one name that it goes by (the Hebrew name and the translation) and it’s easy to mix them up. For the past couple of years I have looked for a study guide that I could use with my family to learn about each of the biblical feasts and have come up empty handed. It was either not accurate, left out important facts, or was way too complex for my children to understand.

We decided to make one of our own, and much like our other materials, it’s simple and to-the-point. It works great as a family read aloud and includes text, comprehension questions and answers, and written pages for notebooking. You know how much we love notebooking.
