My husband is a Paramedic and has had the opportunity to administer aid and travel to Haiti after the big earthquake and to Joplin, MO after the HUGE tornado that destroyed the entire town. Our family has packed aid backpacks, books and toys for children at shelters and our living room has been overflowed with medical supplies to be sorted and delivered. Anytime a natural disaster hits, we watch the news and our hearts break for those that have lost their family members and their belongings. The questions always come about the whys and hows of storms.
I have put together a big list of Resources and Science Projects to make your own unit studies on the different natural disasters. I also want to encourage you to speak to your children about the recent ones that have happened, encourage them to pray for the families that are effected, show them the cities and countries on a map and continue to pray for those people who are still trying to rebuild their lives as you study about each disaster.
