STEM just seems to bring the very best out of my son. Although he can’t stay still long enough to finish an essay without taking a brain break, he surely can go for hours with a STEM activity.

The last STEM project he completed was a self-propelled car project, which he absolutely loved. I honestly would have not fully known my son’s potential had it not been for activities like STEM or STEAM that bring out the best in my son.

In the “best,” I mean I got to see that he clearly can think critically. He can use higher-order learning to come up with solutions and improvements.

I am so grateful that the Lord helped me find ways for my son to flourish. No, it doesn’t involve reading a textbook from start to finish, but activities like STEM can prepare my son for adulthood in ways that a textbook never can.

That is why when it comes to different holidays during the year, or when we add some unit studies to our homeschool to break-up the monotony, STEM is always involved.

STEM opens the door for our students to develop their problem-solving skills, to find solutions, to learn how to ask questions (good questions), to create, and to have fun while they are doing it.

St. Patrick’s Day is one of those holidays that passes by quickly, but one that we can pack on the fun with.

When we think of St. Patrick’s Day, we often think of green, shamrocks, rainbows, pots of gold, and leprechauns. So, there is a STEM project to check out below for each one of these St. Patrick’s Day-themed ideas and more.
