Learning about scientists can be a lot of fun. If you have a science nerd in your family they will love learning about fellow famous science nerds!

I found a great free scientist of the week lesson from Kristin Lee that will combine science with no-fiction literacy skills. Your middle schoolers will read a weekly passage about the famous scientist Mae Jemison who was a doctor and the first black female astronaut. Each day they will complete a short activity about what they have read. In this lesson they will explore science vocabulary and learn how to communicate information, citing texts, engaging in arguments from evidence, analyzing paragraphs and much more.
