The first thing I ever learned how to sew was an apron. I ended up creating my own pattern and everything. It was so much fun and now I love making aprons. They make great gifts and they are so practical.
Aprons are a great first time sewing project for your kids as well. If you are wanting to make some aprons with your children you must check out this awesome round up from Simply Frugal.
