Have you been praying for your family? Are you wondering what to pray and if prayer really makes a difference?
Prayer can easily become something we just do as a Christian. We learn that it’s a spiritual discipline and should be part of our lives. But what if praying was designed to make a difference?
Acts 12:5 NKJV says,
Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. (Ephasis added)
What happened to Peter as a result of the constant prayer of the church? An angel came to him and lead him out of the prison. Peter thought he was experiencing a vision, but instead it was really happening!! Even the church was surprised when Peter showed up at the gate!
Praying for your family is designed to make a difference.
Constant prayer is our engagement with God until something happens.
Sometimes though, we only pray for a day when it’s a 2-day or 7-day struggle. Daniel experienced this in the Bible. In fact, it was a 21-day struggle. It can be easy to pray once, said we prayed and leave it. It eases our conscience for a time.
But true prayer is warfare as a soldier in a battle. We forget that part of prayer is our persistence and patience. These two are often working together. Oftentimes, God is trying to shape something in us to be ready to handle the answer when it comes.
Do you consistently and constantly pray? Or is it when it’s needed and desperate? We all need to evaluate our prayer life as we look at Jesus’ example. Jesus was always ready for whatever was happening. Why would that be? Because He communed with the Father in prayer.
John 15:7 NKJV says,
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
