April is here and that means trees will be growing new leaves soon and Arbor Day is just around the corner. Arbor Day is celebrated the last Friday of April, so the date varies from year to year. This year it falls on April 29, 2016.

While we won’t be planting a new tree, we have plenty in our yard already, we will take the week to learn about trees, their life cycle and how to figure out what the tree is by identifying their leaves. It is a fun project and outing my kids love to take each year as we go to the park and gather leaves then come home to identify them. Here are some other helpful resources you can use as you learn more about trees and Arbor Day this year.
