Logic puzzles are a great way to help your student build critical thinking skills. They are also fun and help keep children off devices. Using resources like Sudoku printablesprintable tangram puzzles, and free printable mazes for kids are also great for teaching these skills.

Teach Problem Solving Using Logic Puzzles for Kids

Even from a young age, it is easy for us to stick a device in our child’s hands to keep them occupied. Doing this often is a great disservice to them. They are fed information instead of trying to find answers for themselves.

In my opinion, this creates very lazy-minded kids. Why do I know this? Because I had one of those kids. I let my son spend too much time watching YouTube and gradually saw his motivation to seek answers and new skills for himself.

He is fine now, but we have to be on our kids about troubleshooting, problem-solving, and exercising their thinking skills for themselves and equip them for their future. Personally,  I am not against smart devices at all. I just feel like they should be limited and used in ways that also benefit your child’s learning process.

We should be careful that technology is not a catalyst in the regression of skills kids need as adults, skills like thinking for themselves and thinking critically. This is where challenging brain teasers and logic puzzles come in handy.

What are brain teasers good for?

Brain teasers and logic puzzles offer easy ways for your kids to exercise their brains. In this day of smart devices and instant gratification via television or the internet, intentionally helping kids think critically is essential.

Activities like brain teasers and logic puzzles can be so much fun. They are a great way to stimulate a child’s cognitive abilities and help them focus on tasks and concentrate. The overstimulating of our brains is completely real, but it can be tamed, and we can purposefully teach our kids to do the same.

Benefits of brain teasers and logic puzzles

There are several benefits to using brain teasers and logic puzzles in your homeschool, but here are just a few that really impact our child’s learning processes.

Building Creative Thinking Skills

Have you ever wondered how to build creative thinking skills in your kids? An easy way to do this is by teaching them word riddles or using brain puzzles.

You can find printable versions of brain teaser games below. A good way to put these to use is when you are in a doctor’s office or waiting room (much better than a phone or device, right?).

A good starting point is to get your kids interested in a great puzzle, like a Rubiks Cube. You can also buy a book with funny riddles. If you are looking for the best riddles you can teach to your kids, start with short-and-sweet. Word play using riddles for kids is often a great way to warm up their brains.

Free brain teasers and logic puzzles

Help your whole family exercise their brains and fine tune their language skills and basic math skills with some of the best brain teasers.

Some of these brain teasers and logic puzzles may look easy to us. However, the processes your child goes through to solve them uses types of thinking that a regular teaching lesson cannot provide.

They are not just thinking questions or opinion questions. They aren’t facts or facts they can just memorize. Brain teasers and logic puzzles actually exercise the mind. It is just as important to do this as it is for us to exercise physically.

We’ve found a variety of brain teasers, and they can mostly all be used by a single person. You’ll love watching the light bulbs light up when your child “gets” a fun riddle.
