Oh, dear multiplication and division, what sleepless nights you have given homeschool moms. The key to ease those math-anxiety sleepless nights is plenty of free multiplication & division resources to practice until kids fully understand what they are doing.
Multiplication and division are some of those steps in mathematics that can set the future learning of mathematics back if kids don’t get it.
For instance, if a child doesn’t really get addition and subtraction, then the possibility of learning multiplication and division will be near impossible.
I mean, your kids can by but getting the whole concept won’t be clear. For instance, I didn’t start homeschooling my youngest kids until they had a few good years of public and state school.
It was right around the time that he was learning multiplication. I just about pulled my heart out, when I realized something. He didn’t “get” it.
I literally ha to take a step back and research how to help him. Time and time again I got the same answer, although I fought it tooth and nail. I had to do a reset.
The freedom we have in homeschooling allowed me to go back to addition and subtraction review. We brushed up his skills there then started from the basics with multiplication.
Don’t be afraid if you have to reset.
You can reset, rewind, and make sure your children understand concepts. That begins with great explanations and lots and lots of practice.
Below I have grabbed some multiplication and division freebies for you to use in your homeschool. Fun activities and videos also helped my son, so I added the ones he enjoyed the most below as well.
