Even though your kids aren’t going off to school, a new schedule, new curriculum, and homeschool groups can be a little scary. Start of Another School Year

If you don’t school year round and are coming off of a summer break, your kids may dread the thought of doing “school” again. They may have gotten used to a relaxed schedule, sleeping in and maybe too much screen time.

Kids may not want to give that up willingly. Starting off the first day of school in a fun way lessens the blow. It gives them something to look forward to. It’s always fun getting out your last day of school signs and seeing how much your kids changed over the summer and previous years.

Get started with your own first day of school traditions.

While my kids love to learn, they don’t always like “doing” schoolwork, so it’s a balance in our family. Last year we started the first week a little slower and eased into our routine. That means we can have some fun with a first day of school interview with each child, pictures, and a special breakfast to start the day.

Whether this is your first year homeschooling or the start of a new grade level, you can start a new school tradition with your children using these first day of school printables. It will go a long way in helping your children realize this is a special day.

The First Day of School Interview

If you have multiple children, the new school year is a great time to sit them down and spend some one-on-one time with them. Whether you have a 3rd grader, a middle school student, or kids in high school, this is something that everyone enjoys. These make for a fun school traditi0n and are great to put into a homeschool portfolio at the end of the year.

You can re-use a first day of school template each year, so you can give them new interview questions when the new school season starts.
