My children love to do art in our homeschool. You can find them doing it most every afternoon! They love to draw, and paint and chalk and craft and watch videos on anything that is art related. They picked all of this up on their own, since I do not have an artistic bone in my body. Yet I am always looking for things to help teach them more about art.
I have always enjoyed giving them the freedom to be creative, and try whatever they would like. We are constantly making trips to the craft store for new mediums and things to try out for fun. As they are getting older, I realized that we have never done a formal art study. I am fine with that, though I have been nervous they would be missing out on some solid concepts like a basic introduction.
One of these concepts that is important to learn is about the elements of art and learning how all the colors come together like what is shown in a color wheel. Thankfully, there are many wonderful, free printables and lessons so you don’t need to buy a formal art curriculum to learn these things at home.
