This Free Butterfly Unit Study Includes:
In the science section, students will learn about the anatomy of a caterpillar and an adult butterfly and label a diagram of each. They’ll also learn about what makes moths and butterflies different, discover a few of the many different types of butterflies, and read about some of the kinds of plants that attract them.
In the geography section, students will label 25 countries on various world maps as they locate where various species live. They’ll label selected countries on maps of:
- North America
- Central America
- South America
In the math section, they’ll read about the wingspread of 14 different types of butterflies, answer questions about them, and create a bar graph to show what they’ve learned.
In the art section, they’ll brainstorm color words and be inspired by color pictures of butterflies. They’ll finish the unit study by either tracing or copying “The Caterpillar” by Christina Rossetti in either print or cursive. It’s a fun way to discover some of the wonder God has surrounded us with in our everyday lives.
