John James Audubon is known for his work studying and cataloguing the birds of North America. From a young age, Audubon loved to draw birds. After several failed business attempts as an adult, he and his family moved to Louisiana, and he started painting pictures of birds in their natural habitats.
He created Birds of America, which included hundreds of color images of the birds he had studied. But no publisher in the United States would publish it. He took it to a British publisher, and the work became extremely famous.
