Many of the public schools around our area have already started the new year, and more are starting this week. Of course we are holding off our official start date of the new year for a few more weeks. With the start of school, it got me thinking. My kids have been so busy and active all summer, I know it is going to be tough to contain them for handwriting and math.
However, I am thinking ahead and have a plan. I have always heard about brain breaks, but never really explored them much. I love the idea of them, but with the chaos of homeschooling 6 kids and a new baby last year, I was lucky to get through the day unscathed.
But this year is going to be different. I am planning ahead and gathering printables and ideas to help us take those much needed “brain breaks” throughout the day. I know if we have a plan and some things ready to go, it will seem much less chaotic and more intentional.
I am loving the ideas I have found online. I might even go as far as to say I’m giddy. I have always been a musical person and while I did fine concentrating during class, my kids love to move freely. Especially when they start to feel stress. I am excited to show my kids that learning is fun, and that it doesn’t have to be stressful or “all business.”
