What is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom all about?

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is an adorably fun and classic book to use with preschoolers when they are learning their letters and alphabet. In this classic board book, the letters of the alphabet race to the top of the coconut tree. With cute alphabet rhymes and cheerful art, kids learn to identify the lowercase letters. The whole alphabet tries to fit on the tree. But there is not enough room in the tree, and the letters fall down. The uppercase letters must come to the rescue as a lively alphabet rhyme continues the story.

The rhythmic alphabet chant is engaging to young kids, while the cheerful colors used by Caldecott Honor Illustrator Lois Ehlert remind you of an Eric Carle book. No wonder this has become one of the most loved alphabet books for young children.

Why is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom a good book?

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom introduces the alphabet in a fun way to young children. This classic is great for toddlers, preschoolers, your kindergarten students. I have taught early learners and I can say that both, my own children, and the students I taught have all loved this fun book about the alphabet.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom provides a winning combination in children’s books between a rollicking alphabet chant and its engaging color illustrations. Ehlert’s bold color scheme makes this merry parade of letters come alive.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

It’s an enduring classic for countless children because of the way kids engage with each letter of the alphabet. They not only learn the name of the letter, but kids learn to identify the uppercase version of the lowercase letter. No wonder this familiar alphabet book has become a children’s favorite.

The book’s rhyme scheme is fun, engaging and can really guide little ones through learning their alphabet. John Archambault’s rhythmic text helps the familiar words of this beloved alphabet chant stay engrained in young minds.
