I don’t know about you, but my family dreams of owning land someday and my girls wish they lived on a farm. I thought it would be fun to do an in depth study on Farm Animals for Science! This week we will be learning about pigs and I found lots of great resources you can compile together to do your own study on pigs for all ages!

Farm Credit Knowledge Center has an interesting post titled Everything But the Oink. There is a  link to a Ted Video on How Pig Parts Make the World Go Round. They also have an Everything But the Oink Diagram Chart, Worksheet and Answer Key.

Pork Foods Service has a website with lots of information including a Guide to Different Pig Breeds.

Pork.org has an entire page devoted to resources, fact sheets and brochures on animal science, animal health, environmental health, animal well being and more.

The National Swine Registry is a great resource for studying different pig breeds and information on showing pigs.

The Pig Site would be great for older students that need to do more research. There are over 600 pages of information on managing the health aspects of a pig or hog farm and even more throughout the entire website.

Animal Smart has an Everything But the Oink full color poster explaining all the products we use on a daily basis that comes from the pig.
