Homeschooling through the holidays can be extra difficult… OR it can be extra fun! If you are constantly trying to balance all that has to be done, with actually enjoying your family during these busy days, I’ve found the trick is to keep it simple, and make the holiday the lesson. If you said Plymouth in 1621 , you’re a few thousand years off! Travel back in time to the first civilizations and learn how the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and people in the Middle Ages celebrated…AND you might be surprised WHERE the first Thanksgiving recorded in America was enjoyed.
Hint…it wasn’t in Massachusetts!
Have you ever read George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation?
Or Abraham Lincoln’s moving proclamation? This might just add a whole new appreciation to your holiday. These would be fantastic to read aloud at your table. Do you know who Sarah Josepha Hale was? You might just owe her a great big thanks too.
