The Best Easter Hymns to Teach Your Children
Easter Sunday is a glorious day of celebration for Christians. It is where we remember Christ’s death on the cross and that He rose again on the third day. Singing our favorite hymns Easter morning with our church family has always been a part of our celebration of Easter and Resurrection Day.
Growing up in a Baptist church I have heard my share of traditional hymns and also some newer contemporary hymns. The common thread with hymns is that they sing of our Father’s love and the love of Christ. They are a beautiful way to worship the Lord any time of the year, but especially during an Easter Service.
What is Hymn Study?
A hymn study is taking a closer look at the songs we sing in church or at home. We pick a song to learn about and listen to it each morning in our home. We explore who wrote the hymns, what the powerful lyrics mean, and why they’re important.
Usually there is a story to be told in traditional hymns, not only in the lyrics but also learning about the songwriter and the time period that they come from. Doing a hymn study can help inspire your children in their faith. It also makes our singing more meaningful as we find favorite lyrics that can help connect us to God in a more meaningful way.

There is a fountain filled with blood

And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.
4. Precious, Precious Blood of Jesus – Author Frances Ridley Havergal

And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity.
7. Beneath the Cross of Jesus – Author Elizabeth Cecilia Clephane
Beneath the cross of Jesus

From the burning of the noontide heat,
And the burden of the day.

Alas! and did my Savior bleed?

From the cross my ransomed soul
Nothing then shall sever.

And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.

He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

Rising up from griefs and tears.

He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
