I literally used to kill any plant I laid eyes on. I am exaggerating of course, but honestly, I couldn’t grow one plant when I first started gardening. Something would always happen, too much rain, too little rain, apparently, I never talked to them. Whatever the reason, it just wasn’t happening.
When I moved to a new country (two years in) I thought I would take another crack at planting. I started with sunflowers.
You would not believe this but the very week after I planted sunflower seeds all around my garden, the island got hit with a Category 5 Tropical Cyclone that flooded everything out and had us without power for months. It was crazy and yes…. My sunflowers never made a peep.
This year I got motivated with an article I read a few months back. This time, my kids are ALL in and have started gardening with me. We are hoping to see the fruit so four labor in a few month’s time.
In the next few months, my husband will be trying to grow corn in our farmland We will go with him and see how it goes.
We are taken an effort to take a role in the food chain and maybe to a healthier lifestyle.
