The Reading for All Learners “Little Books” program was created to combine the needs and interests of children with the research on systematic phonics-based approaches to reading instruction. Based on extensive research, the program consists of 141 “Little Books” that combine both fun stories, as well as thorough and systematic instruction. Before beginning each book, students review previously taught sounds that will be needed to confidently read the coming story. Once all sounds are reviewed without errors, new sounds are introduced. These carefully introduced new sounds will be immediately applied in the upcoming words and story. After reviewing individual sounds, students review the words needed for fluency and comprehension of the story. Once all words are reviewed without errors, new words for the upcoming story are introduced to the students.
