Long addition and subtraction come with their sets of difficulties. Once a child masters these skills and moves on to decimals, a whole other challenge comes along with it. To help you teach, read about these simple strategies and tips on how to add decimals.

After teaching place value and understanding how decimals relate to being part of a whole, it is time to tackle the calculation part of decimals. Although the memorization and rules are down, it is time for kiddos to put their thinking caps on to tackle the addition and subtraction of the decimal values.

Following the foundational knowledge of decimals, place value and counting money, adding and subtracting decimals should come to a lot easier.
