Children Love Horses

Children just love horses. My girls especially love anything to do with horses. I think it is every girl’s dream to want to own a horse one day. My girls used to talk about horses all the time. The first thing they would ask when they met a new friend was “do you like horses?”

Since horses have always been a passion for my girls, we have done lessons, visited a horse ranch to take a trail ride, and even helped at our friend’s barn. They have specifically been interested in how to care for a horse.

There are so many aspects that go into horse care and things they need to learn. Being a horse owner is a big responsibility. Many horse owners have an equestrian journal. They say that this is the best way to keep track of accomplishments and important record keeping.

What Do You Put in a Horse Journal?

There are many different ways you can use a horse journal. A horse journal can be used for record keeping. It is a great way to track your horse’s health care. It is also an easy way to keep important records for your horse.

Here are just a few different things that you can put in a horse journal:

  • Record Keeping – This is where you can write down when you you need to change horse shoes, when you need to make farrier appointments. Add a photo of your horse, keep track of their age, breed and personal information. It can even be used as a handy equine expenses tracker.
  • Horse Care Tracker – Owners uses this to keep track of the health care needs of their horse. Record vet visits, track feeding and general wellness. It is a great way to get you to keep an eye on your horse’s health. The condition of your horse is an important thing to keep track of.
  • Horse Training Journals – Keep daily training logs and training plans for your horse. Keep records of competition results and write down show notes. Did your horse have a difficult time performing the last time you had them out? A daily diary for training is great to look back on later.
  • Events Calendar – You can use it to keep track of horse shows and events. Some people like to include a weather report so they know what to expect. Keep addresses and phone numbers for the different event venues.

Does your child take horseback riding lessons?

If your child takes lessons they may want to keep track of what they are doing in a horse riding journal. When they keep a record of how their lessons have gone, they can look back and see what they need to improve the next time.

They can use it to track big goals that they want to achieve. A riding instructor would be very impressed that they are taking their lessons seriously by keeping a horse riding journal.

What if you don’t have a horse of your own?

You don’t have to be horse owner to use this notebook. You can use this notebook for some fun imaginary play. My girls really enjoyed playing with My Horse Notebook.

We have friends that own horses and have had the opportunity to ride and visit them on a regular basis. One of my daughter’s took lessons for about a year on a beautiful painted mare. When she was helping put the journal together she of course chose to make hers a paint horse journal.

This journal is a great way to stretch their imagination and be creative. They can journal about what a day would look like training with their horse. Record all the little details that they have imagined about what it would be like to have a horse of their own.

My girls had the best time creating stories about their horses and pretending that they were doing training sessions to prepare for a big show.
