When Christmas is over, I spend a lot of time geting the house cleaned up and organized for the New Year. We usually have people over for New Year’s Eve so there is a lot of cleaning to be done after Christmas. This is the perfect time to find some educational things to do to keep the kids busy. I love using writing prompts for this. It keeps them busy in an educational way while I am busy preparing the house.
I think we can all agree that 2020 is definitely not something we want to do a lot of reminiscing about. Unless you are a history buff. Then you will definitely want to record this past year. I think that every family should absolutely write about this crazy, historical year. For all we know, this is something that our children’s children will be talking to their children about. I truly believe we are living in historical times.
If your children like to keep a diary or journal, 2020 was definitely the year to do so. It would be a great record of all the craziness that went on! If your children don’t like to do that, I still think it is a good idea to assign them some type of writing assignment about the past year. It is a great idea to keep a historical record of all that has gone on.
The end of the year and the beginning of a new one, might not bring about the positive changes that we are hoping for. Regardless, it can help us to focus on the good things God has given us, and help our children create some goals about what a New Year would look like for them.
