Fairy Tales Reading Comprehension Free 40-Page Comprehension Unit

Reading Comprehension With Fairy Tales

Fairy tales are such an interwoven part of childhood that it makes sense to use them as educational tools whenever possible.

This 40-page FREE Reading Comprehension with Fairy Tales elementary unit includes the text of both fairy tales. The tales have been rewritten in an age-appropriate format with a gentler approach than some versions of the fairy tales.

Each story includes:

  • the story text
  • coloring page
  • coloring page with print copywork
  • copywork page containing the title of the fairy tale in a decorative frame
  • word puzzle
  • simple vocabulary activity
  • the story rewritten in a rebus format
  • seven comprehension questions

How to Use:

You can break each story up into several days, building on what has been learned and reviewing the key parts of the story. Kids can color the coloring page as you read the story. They can trace the title of the fairy tale and the print copywork to make decorative pages for a notebook.

On the next day, they can review key words from the story in the word puzzle and the simple vocabulary activity.

On the final day, kids can help you read the story as they fill in words wherever they are represented by images. Then, they can answer the comprehension questions.
