How to use this printable pack

The story is written for you to read aloud to the student. You may wish to have them color one of the coloring pages while you read and discuss the story. A blank coloring page is provided if you are not working on handwriting skills at this time.

  • A coloring page with simple words to trace is included if you would like to incorporate handwriting skills with the story.
  • A key verse from the story is included in large print copywork. Each is surrounded by a fun frame so the student can display his or her work when complete.
  • A sight word puzzle is included that incorporates multiple sight words found in the story. A grid is provided with some of the letters missing. A list of the sight words appears beneath the puzzle to help the child complete the puzzle.
  • Vocabulary practice focuses on a few of the key actors or words in the story. A simple definition is given for each, and boxes are provided for the student to fill in the appropriate word beside the definition. The boxes are formatted to fit the approximate size and shape of the letters in order to make identifying the correct word from the list easier.
  • A rebus story is provided so your student can help you read the story. The images are identified at the beginning of each story. As you read the story and come to the illustrations, have your child fill in the appropriate word for you.
  • Reading comprehension questions focusing on the sequence of events in the story and major elements are provided for reviewing the story with your student.
