Modern history is an exciting and important subject, but sometimes, it can be hard to know what to cover. This FREE Modern History Activities & Notebooking: 1960s unit covers five key events and helps your students start studying this key decade.

The FREE Modern History Activities & Notebooking: 1960s unit brings five key events of the 1960s into focus. It uses puzzles and activities to introduce kids to these events and then follows these introductions with notebooking questions that encourage them to dig deeper. Events covered include:

  • U.S. Presidential Election (1960)
  • Launching of Vostok (1961)
  • Cuban Missile Crisis (1962)
  • Assassination of President John F. Kennedy (1963)
  • First Man on the Moon (1969)

The activities in this unit bring a more engaging dimension to history than simply reading about the events. Activities include puzzles such as fill-ins with word banks and decoding. Each puzzle is followed by notebooking questions that challenge students to do independent research and find out more about the topics they’ve studied. The unit wraps up with a crossword puzzle about all five events, and an answer key is included.

It’s a fun way to break a tough subject down into manageable pieces.
