We often think of dogs as pets, but do your kids know they are also part of history? Help your kids learn about some of the many different breeds of dogs with this FREE Dog Breeds Notebook & Draw Unit.
Dogs are one of mankind’s most loved and faithful friends. They come in all shapes and sizes. They live in apartments and on sprawling farms. They have earned the nickname of “man’s best friend,” leaving their paw prints all over our hearts.
They have backgrounds as diverse as their personalities. For example, the Afghan hound has been around for longer than we’ve been keeping records. They helped hunters throughout Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan and weren’t known to the West until British officers brought some back in the days of the British Empire.
The Alaskan Malamute was bred for its ability to help haul heavy loads over the rugged Alaskan landscape and was named after an Inuit tribe.
Airedale Terriers were bred as hunting dogs in Europe and helped British troops in World War I.
This fun FREE Dog Breeds Notebook & Draw Unit gives kids the chance to investigate 55 breeds of dogs and record:
- its average size
- its color
- the country it originated in
- the years/time period the breed originated in
- the typical care needed
It also has a place where students can cut and paste or draw a picture of each breed.
A blank bonus sheet is included at the end in case your favorite breed isn’t mentioned!
