Resources for Studying Landforms & Habitats of the World

Although I was never a fan of geography, I did love learning about the different landforms of the earth and the habitats where animals lived. Living in one location my entire life and only mere miles from my grandparents, we didn’t travel very far or take many vacations.
What is a landform? Simply put, a landform is a naturally occurring feature found on the earth’s surface. There are thirteen common types – mountains, plateaus, valleys, deserts, dunes, islands, plains, rivers, oceans, loess, glaciers, peninsulas, and deltas. There are many, many more types, as the earth is always changing.
What is a habitat? Basically a habitat is your home. So for science and geographical purposes, a habitat is the home or environment that naturally occurs for animals, plants and organisms. Habitats also must provide shelter, food and the conditions for reproduction. Just like landforms, there are numerous habitats around the earth. Some of them include: grasslands, oceans, the tundra, deserts, rivers, ponds, lakes, forests and so many more!
Studying different parts of geography and the earth is important for elementary kids. I have gathered resources that will help them learn more about the different landforms and the habitats on the earth. You’ll also find some crafts and activities to make it that much more fun!
