I can remember many summer days spent at the river. We would go early in the morning, take a picnic and swim for hours until my parents made us eat. Then, we would walk the rocky banks and try to find “treasures” as we scoured the rocks, until we were allowed to swim again. After we got older, we often took day-trips and canoed down the river too.

While going to the river has fond, albeit cold, memories, now that we homeschool I see them in a different light. I see the tiny little organisms, the fish that swim by, the frogs, tadpoles, and algae that often grows on the rocks. All of it presents fun and unique learning opportunities. I gathered some fun resources for you to use as you study rivers and ponds.
