Considering God’s Creation is a creative in-depth encounter with natural science from a biblical perspective. Adaptable for Second to Seventh Grade.

Science is one of those subjects that I dread teaching. I am not very hands-on and to make science fun, I imagined beakers, petri dishes, microscopes, dead frogs, etc. Well, this particular curriculum is still hands on but it is SO easy to teach. The teacher’s manual is very well laid out and all of the work is done for you. Each lesson has an area at the top of the TM that is labeled Preparation. It tells of any supplies needed and what pages in the student text that you will need. I was ecstatic to see that the student pages were perforated! Yea! So many curricula are not, and what an inconvenience that can be!

Each lesson has vocabulary words and an introduction read by the teacher with prompting questions for interaction (this is not long and boring and it engages the students). It also has a short song or poem that will help the students remember the concept and an activity that usually uses items from around your home and/or the activity pages in the student workbook. This curriculum incorporates Bible reading where students look-up scriptures, a notebooking assignment, and a really cool thing called “Evolution Stumpers”. Then there is a review section and a “Digging Deeper” section if you want to dig in to some additional resources.

The student worksheets in the activity book are very thorough, but not at all boring. Some of the ones I liked best were “Detective” pages which your child will use to investigate or research particular things, like rocks, trees, plants, scientists, and more. I am sure that this will also be one of my daughter’s favorites too!

Cathy Duffy says, “. . .this curriculum seems to come closer than any others I can think of for meeting the needs of a home school family that wants a Christian science curriculum that can be used to teach a broad span of grade levels together.” Use alone or as a supplement.

The price is very affordable and definitely worth every penny. We used this curriculum in second grade and loved every minute of it!
