Poetry and fall go together like peanut butter and jelly. Just stepping outside you see how the crisp air, the beautiful colors, and feel of freshness can bring ideas and descriptions to the minds of those experiencing it. Therefore check out these fall poetry activities to kick start your school year.
This resource will provide your kids in homeschool with ideas to write a fall-themed poem, write an acrostic poem, create a poetry station, sidewalk chalk poems, and create poetry magnets.
My favorite activity out of all of these is creating a poetry station. What you do is cut fall words out of a magazine and putting them in a basket. The kids can use the designed words for either poetry inspiration, the title, or as words within the poem itself. These are things you may need in a poetry station:
- A basket with words cut from magazines
- Magazines
- Scissors
- Glue Sticks
- Paper
- Pencils
- Markers

Maybe try to create a unit study on the seasons of the year. Grab some resources here to help:
