Creating a homeschool routine that doesn’t fall by the wayside every few months is hard to do. I remember there have been a few homeschooling routines I have tried over the years and it has taken a few to get it right. It is really discouraging to try time and time again to get a routine in place. When I started teaching in public school, it also took me some time to get a routine in place. Somehow, if you can believe it, it has been harder to get a routine for my homeschool than it was for a class of 25.
I think it is because life is so comfortable at home. In a classroom, I guess the kids expect there to be rules and have some sort of structure.
At home, the kids know me. They know how much they can get away with. Getting to see me as their teacher was interesting, to say the least. I thought I was an awesome teacher until I began teaching my own kids. It is a whole new ballgame.
