Flashcards are an excellent learning and teaching tool for sight words. Sight words are an important part of sharpening reading skills for all students, especially those in kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. This post has an awesome list of FREE sight word games your homeschool can easily play with flashcards. I saw that my kids really enjoyed flashcards for learning when they were little. Now that they are older, they are still using flashcards for their studies.

Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory states that there are many types of learners. Gardner’s research indicates we should aim to appeal to all the different learner types when teaching. Homeschool moms can discover very early on, what types of learners our kids are. However, Gardner says that a very high proportion of people are visual learners. Therefore, because flashcards can be bright and colorful, they make a real impact on visual learners.

Flashcards are a  great way for kids to retain information used to keep them engaged. Practicing sight words through games helps kids make connections with words, and can help us assess their progress. Your kids will have fun and moms are rest assured that their kids are reading. You can laminate your flashcards so that they are reusable and durable.
