This may not be as silly of  a question as you may think. In today’s world, with GPS and location apps, maps and atlases aren’t as common. Reading maps is a skill kids should learn even with all the technology surrounding them.

In additional to being a useful life skill, reading maps with your kids during family travel or road trips create lasting memories. With learning map skills, children can help plan out site seeing stops, learn direction, save maps for keepsakes or even to create imaginary routes on the map for fun.
