Preschool Shapes Matching Cards

You can use these fun, FREE Preschool Shapes Matching Cards to help your little ones learn eleven common shapes. Plus, you can pick and choose whichever of the shapes you want to focus on at this time. If there are some you want to save until they are a little bit older, you can do that and still use the rest of this free resource.

One half of each matched pair of cards includes the shape bounded by a dotted line preschoolers can trace for fine motor skill development and to help reinforce what they are learning about the shape.

The other half of each set shows the word for the shape and also where they might spot it – like a triangular shape of pizza, a rectangular envelope, or a circular ball.

Young learners might enjoy coloring the black and white version, or you can print the color version if you choose. Eleven shapes are included:

  • triangle
  • rectangle
  • circle
  • square
  • oval
  • hexagon
  • star
  • rhombus (alternate diamond card included)
  • trapezoid
  • pentagon
  • octagon
