From the balalaika to the volynka, students can learn a little about where each instrument is from, what type of instrument it is, and how it is played with this FREE Musical Instruments Around the World Guided Drawing unit.

Students will learn about the:

  • Balalaika from Russia
  • Crwth from Wales
  • Gandingan from the Philippines
  • Hulusi from China
  • Khene from southeast Asia
  • Kokle from Latvia
  • Pandeiro from Brazil
  • Saron from Indonesia
  • Thavil from India
  • Volynka from the Russia and Ukraine area

A paragraph about each instrument is included, along with two guided drawing activities for each. Ten comprehension questions complete the unit, and an answer key is provided.

With this unit, kids can learn which instrument is the national instrument of Latvia, which one is played using a mallet made from a water buffalo horn, and much more!
