Modern history can be a tough subject to teach, but these FREE Modern History Activities and Notebooking units can help! Our decade to focus on this time is the 1980s.
This FREE Modern History Activities and Notebooking unit can help you and your kids explore five key U.S. and world events from the 1980s. It will introduce them to:
- the U.S. presidential election of 1980
- the first appointment of a woman to the U.S. Supreme Court (1981)
- the U.S. presidential election of 1984
- the Chernobyl nuclear disaster (1986)
- the massacre at Tienanmen Square (1989)
Each section of the unit introduces your students to one of these events through an activity such as a fill-in or decoding puzzle. As they complete the activity, they will learn key information about the topic. Once they are finished, they can move on to notebooking pages that include questions that challenge them to dig deeper and learn more about the event as they go.
These units are perfect for encouraging independent research and help your students develop their research skills. Be sure to grab all the FREE Modern History Activities and Notebooking units. Each one also includes a crossword puzzle that reviews all five events in the unit.
