How much do your kids know about the 1920s? This FREE Modern History Activities & Notebooking unit helps upper elementary and middle school students learn about five key events from the 1920s in the United States and around the world.

With this FREE Modern History Activities & Notebooking unit, students can explore and learn more about:

  • Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution (1920)
  • Early Preparations for Climbing Mount Everest (1921)
  • President Warren Harding Dies While Still in Office (1923)
  • Hirohito Becomes Emperor of Japan (1926)
  • The Stock Market Crash (1929)

Each event includes an activity, such as a fill-in or a decoding puzzle, that challenges kids to learn more about the event. When the activity is finished, students will have a introduction to the topic they are studying and will have discovered key information about it. Also included with each event are notebooking pages that contain additional questions designed to engage students in independent research. An encyclopedia or other similar resource is needed and is a great way to motivate students to get comfortable with research materials. At the end of the unit is a crossword puzzle that reviews the five events.

It’s an easy way to add some fun to learning about modern history!
