I remember learning geography when I was in school and it was so boring and dry. I wanted nothing to do with the rote memorization and dreaded it.
As a homeschool mom, I am just seeing that I wasn’t taught in an engaging way. Thankfully, today, there are so many resources available for us to teach our own children geography in a fun, and memorable way.
I prefer to teach geography in a unit study method. We don’t necessarily use a curriculum to teach geography in the younger years. There are lots of free resources available, that it makes using unit studies very easy and convenient.
We really enjoy geography now because we can make it come alive for our children. We have written a lot about geography on our site, and have created some amazing resources for your family to use.
Since school is starting back up, it’s a great time to get a fresh start and try some new things. Geography is a great addition to your homeschool studies.
I have created a round-up of different types of geography unit studies that we have personally created, as well as others that will be helpful for your homeschool, broken down by type. I suggest creating a geography notebook for your children. They can make it their own, and add their favorite notebooking pages, maps and resources to their notebook.
